Happy Birthday Blue Skies...

Blue Skies is 1! We popped in to their party on Saturday afternoon for a cupcake, a sling fashion show and a Sling Beat mini class. The timetable was jam packed with free tasters and baby related stalls all day long and although we were late arrivals (due to an impromptu invitation to go for a bounce on a pink bouncy castle... How could we not, thanks Laura and Hope) we still managed to soak up the happy vibes and buy some raffle tickets. Honey is such a book worm, all she wanted to do was sit by the book box in the cafe and read but once we prized her away, she was transfixed by Emily-Rose's demo of Sling Beats big sister class, Wiggle Beat (coming soon). I should also mention that Honey met her first celebrity at the party, Peppa Pig was in attendance which was quite clearly, the best thing ever!

What a load of rubbish...

I've been meaning to write this post for ages because there's something really small that most parents can do, which can make such a huge difference. Each baby food pouch or baby wipes packet you use is worth 2p to children's cancer research charity Ellie's Fund Brain Tumour Trust. This may not sound like a lot, but when all those 2p's are combined, it really adds up! What's more, all the items you hand in go on to be 100% recycled so you're also doing your bit to reduce landfill :-) The lovely Andrea at Tatty Bumpkin is our local co-ordinator and she has collection points at her own classes, as well as Blue skies Centre and Play Cafe, Buggyfit Gloucestershire, Sing and Sign Cirencester, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds Gloucestershire and NCT Cheltenham and North Cotswolds Branch. So whether you're a pouchaholic or only buy one occasionally, please consider dropping off your empties or passing them on to someone who can!

The painted baby...

We had an early morning message from the lovely people at Mess Around saying that someone had dropped out of their special Fathers Day messy play session at Blue Skies and the space was ours! Honey had her usual morning milk followed by cereal, then didn't get dressed... Yes, that's right, today's activity DID NOT INVOLVE AN OUTFIT! When I tell you that this morning, Honey was playing in trays of sand, custard, cornflakes and paint, you'll understand why! After all the messy fun, we were delighted to learn that a special offer meant we could visit the cafe at no extra cost. While Honey read and played, we were able to relax (and dry off) with a drink and a cake! I mustn't forget to mention that Honey had her first 'spot' today, I was so excited to meet Isla's Mummy who recognised Honey as she reads our blog! She is opening an exciting new business in Cheltenham soon, a much needed maternity boutique!

Our word of the week is: Mess!

The Reading Residence

Don't worry, Honey does have an outfit for you really! After messy play, we zipped over to Gloucester for Honey's friend Cora's first birthday party and spent a few happy hours playing (Honey) and getting sunburnt (me) with the birthday girl.

Close enough to kiss...

After much selling and saving, we are finally the proud owners of our very first woven wrap! We have a steep learning curve to contend with but have been practising every day over half term and even walked to town and back wearing it today (Honey didn't fall out or end up round my knees, so I consider it a success)! As you can see, Honey is a stickler for the 'close enough to kiss' rule of babywearing!
