At the car wash...

I employed Honey to help wash my car today, she took her role very seriously and made sure she put bubbles everywhere then let me know when the water was too dirty! I had to keep a close eye on her and whip the cloth away when she dropped it on the gravel but it was great to have another pair of eyes searching for bits we'd missed!

She marched them up to the top of the hill...

Today, we visited another place which comes highly recommended by the small people I work with. Robinswood Hill in Gloucester offers free parking, a variety of routes to the top of the hill and impressive views of the city once you get there. Honey took us by surprise and fell asleep in the car on our way over and once we arrived, I popped her into the carrier to give her a chance to continue her nap. When she woke up, I moved her onto my back so she could see where we were and help push me up the steep bits! Once we reached the top, she demanded snacks (it's hard work being carried up a hill) so we spent some time in the picnic area trying to work out which landmarks we could see. Back at the bottom, Honey spent some time exploring the play area then settled on the grass to eat her lunch. I'd say the play area is more suited to older children but Honey had a great time attempting to climb everything!

Life's a beach...

We visited friends in Weston-Super-Mare today and what better way to spend a sunny Tuesday, than on the beach? To say that Honey loved the sand would be an understatement, she was like a pig in mud and within minutes, every inch of her was covered! We treated Honey to a donkey ride which she also loved, although I think she'd have been quite happy to dig in, build with and eat the sand all day long! We ended up using this as a test run for our Woolacombe break in a few weeks time and came home with some mental notes about taking Honey to the beach and a list of helpful items to make beach life run more smoothly!

Can't see the wood for the trees...

We spent some time with Honey's Grandparents in The Cotswolds over the Easter weekend and they treated us to a trip to Batsford Arboretum. After a comedy fall through a picnic table (she was confused but fine), Honey had a fantastic time running up and down the slopes, splashing in the streams and crunching through gravel. The cafe served up a great choice of cake and drinks and also offered a range of lunch options, all in light, airy indoor surroundings or with gorgeous views out on the balcony.

Hocus Pocus...

A Good Friday trip to Magic Land in Cirencester, we must be mad! After initially being turned away because it was full then making a pit stop for a (free) coffee at the local Waitrose, we were in. Honey started gently in the toddler area which is well equipped and has a fab range of toys, but she was quickly ready to graduate onto the big kids stuff! Mummy loved the 'star slide', Daddy was a huge fan of the ball pit and Honey was channelling Godsister Robyn with her love of the balancing beams! The check in and out process was simple yet effective, helped by the very well organised ladies on the desk who coped admirably with a queue that snaked halfway across the car park. We didn't eat, but I had a sneaky look at the menu (and a peer over the shoulders of some diners) and saw plenty of dishes that took my fancy and all at reasonable prices.
